Sito's story
Hello, I’m Sito, and I work as a radiographer in 2 of the largest general hospitals in Fife.
Before I joined NHSScotland, I worked in the UAE as a radiographer and mammographer. I was looking into what was best for me and my children. I wanted to find an opportunity overseas to improve my skills and get good professional work experience. That’s when I applied for a position through the Yeovil International Recruitment programme.
Sito's journey to Scotland
In this video, Sito talks about moving to Scotland and becoming a radiographer and an allied health professional in the NHS. She describes her journey from the UAE and what it involved. Sito also explains the differences between Scotland and her home country and how her family has adapted to life here.
Sito explains how moving to the NHS in Scotland has supported her career progression. She also shares what it’s like to work with colleagues at sites in Scotland, motivating her to work towards the highest level in her field.
Living in Scotland
I found some differences living in Scotland, like the weather and the culture. However, when you take things step by step, they’re okay. My children are happy here and excited about school. They love learning and the school subjects on offer. It’s totally different to the UAE.
Working in Scotland
If I compare the UAE and Scotland, I see so many more opportunities in my field here. I can apply to work as a mammographer and in computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine. After that, with further training, I can become a consultant radiographer or a consultant mammographer. It’s amazing really.
Everybody at work is lovely. I feel like I’m with my family. I appreciated the care and attention to the smaller details when I arrived. The pastoral support my family and I received made everything feel easy and simple. It’s motivated me to continue and reach higher levels in this field.
