Return to practice

If you've previously worked as a registered healthcare professional, we want to encourage you to return to work in the NHS.

What is return to practice?

If you've taken a break from your health career, you can come back to the NHS!

Qualified healthcare professionals, including nurses and allied health professionals, can use the return to practice process to update their skills through placement-based learning and study. It leads to readmission to a professional register.

Professional bodies, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Health and Care Professions Council, will confirm specific requirements for your profession.
