NHS 24 service delivery
NHS 24 is a patient-focused service that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It provides advice and assistance to people over the phone and online, helping them get the right care in the right place.
NHS 24 unscheduled care
NHS 24's unscheduled care service was established in 2004. It receives 1.5 million calls every year from people across Scotland on the free 111 phone number.
All calls are evaluated by a triage team and directed to a healthcare professional, where appropriate. In a life or limb-threatening emergency, calls are transferred to the Scottish Ambulance Service.
