What is Remembrance Sunday?
As Remembrance Sunday approaches, we reflect on the courage and dedication of those who have served in and supported our Armed Forces. This day is a time to honour their sacrifices and recognise and celebrate their talents and contributions beyond the battlefield.
The Armed Forces Talent Programme
The NHSScotland Armed Forces Talent Programme (AFTP) is designed to acknowledge and harness the unique skills of veterans and service members. By offering support and development opportunities, this initiative facilitates the transition of military talent into the NHS. It also showcases the invaluable qualities they bring—leadership, resilience, and adaptability.
By engaging with AFTP, you can help create pathways for these exceptional individuals. Their skills will benefit our health and social care services and wider communities, giving them a chance to #ServeAgain.
How you can get involved
There are lots of ways you can honour those who served and support veterans, service members, and their families:
- Attend Remembrance events and join local ceremonies. Your presence is a powerful reminder of our collective gratitude.
- Support AFTP through mentorship, job opportunities, or partnerships. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of veterans, reservists, service leavers, and their families.
- Spread awareness by sharing information about AFTP with your networks. The more people know the more opportunities we create!
Together, let’s honour the legacy of our armed forces by investing in the future of our talented veterans. This Remembrance Sunday, let us not only remember but also uplift and empower those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
Remember. Honour. Empower.
